Thursday was a holiday in Germany. It was followed by a long weekend. Technically, I didn’t have the time “off”, since I am in the middle of exam preparations. But while I did study, I also had to be creative. Call it inspiration or procrastination, but here’s what happened:
- One of my friends is turning 22 next week. I wanted to make her a coffee tray, in the literal sense: I have coffee beans and wanted to create a pattern with them, fixed with epoxy resin. I built the tray and painted it. But sadly, my epoxy was not suitable. So that project is on hold.
- I had some paint leftover from the tray project. So, I painted my bedroom window with a simple leaf pattern. The view out that window is currently an ugly construction site, so the leaves are a nice alternative!
- Since the tray won’t be done before my friend’s birthday, I needed a new gift idea. It was then that I remembered my bottle cap collection (I’ve been collecting them for years), as well as some wire. The result: a bottle cap fruit bowl! Working with the wires left my hands scratched and sore, and the finished bowl is still a bit rough. But I love how it turned out. A kitchen towel will cushion any content, and coconut oil will soothe my hands. Win-Win!
My room looked like a war zone at the end of things, but the results and the fun were worth it. What random things are you up to? Have you taken time to appreciate them? Leave a comment if you like, and have a great day!
