Travel Interludes before School

Travel Interludes before School

Two weekends ago I went with my dad on a 3-day-trip to Venice. It was a spontaneous trip to surprise some of my dad’s friends, who were also on vacation at that time. We enjoyed the sun, the water, and the scenery. Due to Corona, the city only had about 30% of the usual amount of people. It was nice! I brought my portable watercolor set so I could paint some scenes. However, I didn’t actually get around to using it much, since we spent time walking and eating and sitting on the boat taxis. I only did 2 quick watercolors. But I was happy all the same. Now the set is ready whenever I need it!

This weekend I also traveled, this time to the north of Germany. It was a road trip with 3 stops. Side note: I drove with pre-written down directions from Google Maps instead of a GPS. I ended up taking 1h extra per trip because of traffic, road constructions, and simply getting lost. But I got there eventually. And it was worth the trouble:
First, I drove 7h from Ewersbach to Hamburg to stay overnight with my friend. I know her from high school but had never visited her place in Hamburg. We went to a flea market, and I bought a leather jacket and a black “Brixton” cowboy hat. I also saw some random, sometimes bizarre things on sale, like some wooden horse head sculptures. Loved it!
Next, I drove 3h down to Hannover, to visit two of my aunts and an uncle for coffee and cake. I don’t usually get to talk to them, so it was good to be there. But I only stayed for around 3h because I had to drive on to my next stop near Minden. That took another 2h, until I reached my uncle’s family around 10pm. I stayed with them until the next afternoon. We took a little walk with their dog and had coffee and cake with another aunt and uncle. Then, I drove back to Ewersbach.
